Prep Cook (Part-time)
Schedule: 25 to 30hrs/week, most shifts will be weekdays between 12pm to 7pm, some weekends required
Hourly Rate: $16.50 to $18.00 per hour + tips based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Batch prep and baking (savoury items, pies, fillings, squares, cookie doughs, soups, salads, pickles, preserves etc.)

Occasionally assist with small preps for service, including made-to-order sandwiches and soups

Cafe & Market Manager (Full Time)
We are currently seeking a Cafe & Market Manager to join our small passionate team. This leadership role supports the daily operations of both the café and market, helping to ensure everything runs smoothly—from inventory and ordering to customer service and team coordination.
Schedule: 35 to 40hrs/week
Hourly Rate: $18 to $22 per hour + tips based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage inventory and place supplier orders to ensure stock levels.
- Maintain supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and source new products.
- Supervise and support staff, including scheduling, training, and performance feedback.
- Deliver excellent customer service and support sales through merchandising and promotions.
- Ensure smooth daily operations, including health and safety compliance.
- Communicate effectively with the team and management to relay updates and foster collaboration.
Requirements:
- Experience in a supervisor or management role in food service or retail (café/market experience preferred).
- Strong leadership and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with inventory management and food safety standards.
- Knowledge of local food systems and sustainable practices is an asset.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Barista/Market Assistant (Full Time) – Position Filled
We are looking for someone who is passionate about local food and excited about building a more vibrant and sustainable Eastern Shore.
Must be available to work between the hours of 8am and 6pm
Weekends required, 30 – 40 hrs/week
Hourly Wage: Starting at $16/hour depending on experience
8 hour shift
Basic Job Requirements
- Engage with and understand our customers needs
- Educating customers on buying local, seasonality and availability of products
- Perform many different tasks during each shift
- Meet store operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security
- Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes
- Stocking shelves and recording inventory
- Washing dishes, cleaning tables, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms etc.
- Making sure produce displays are well stocked and visually attractive
- Sorting garbage, recycling and compost
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to learn quickly
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
- Knowledge of, or interest in learning about local agriculture and seasonality of local food
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Previous retail, barista and/or kitchen experience and up to date Food Safety Certificate considered an asset
- Must be able to lift 50lb (boxes of potatoes, bags of corn etc.)

Kitchen Manager (Full Time) – Position Filled
The duties of Kitchen Manager are to lead the cooking team to success, produce consistent, quality product using the freshest local ingredients possible and to have all kitchen employees follow all guidelines and proper procedures at all times.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about local food and excited about building a more vibrant and sustainable Eastern Shore.
Approximately 40hrs/week, must be available to work 8:30am to 4:30pm, most weekends required
Hourly Rate: $20 to $23 depending on experience

Basic Job Requirements
Including but not limited to:

- Kitchen inventory and re-ordering
- Plan weekly salad and soup specials in order to use up market produce most efficiently
- Develop a line of value added items for sale in the market including ready to eat meals, take-home/freezer meals, stir fry kits, croutons, preserves, sauces, salad dressings, ready to cook side dishes etc.
- Create a schedule to ensure value added items are well stocked and keeping fridge stocked with to-go items such as sandwiches, salads and buddha bowls.
- Schedule tasks and delegating among kitchen staff.
- Motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.
- Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize spillage. Monitor pricing and compare to theoretical costs.
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.
- Oversee daily breakfast and lunch preparation
- Peeling, chopping, bagging, freezing and preserving fruits and vegetables to reduce waste from market
- Baking, cooking food from scratch, creating soups and salads with ingredients that are available and in season
- Communicating with customers about buying local, and seasonality of products
- Prepare food to standard recipes or customized for customers, including recipe changes such as quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients
Qualifications

- 5 years cooking/baking experience
- Previous management experience an asset
- Knowledge of and experience with local ingredients considered an asset
