Rootabaga – February 23, 2020

This week’s subscription includes more of the same root vegetables like beets, parsnips, carrots and rutabaga but we’re also throwing in some fresh herbs from River View Herbs in Maitland to liven up your meals this week. We will have a choice of basil, dill, parsley, cilantro and chives, I haven’t decided which type I want just yet, I’m leaning towards cilantro because we have some leftover cabbage from last week and I just loooove these Blackened Haddock Fish Tacos. I’m also tempted to go with fresh chives to make a fresh lemon and parmasan pasta topped with pea-shoots and chives, if that doesn’t sound like spring then I don’t know what does! What are you favourite fresh herbs to use in the kitchen?

I’m going to try making pickled turnip this week because honestly, I am not a fan of turnip, but that pickled turnip from Mediterranean Restaurants like Noor’s and Mezza, YUM!
